Florida was once a powerhouse of college football in the mid-2000s when head coach Urban Meyer and quarterback Tim Tebow won two national championships, but since then, the Gators have struggled in a brutal SEC.

The Gator’s head coach, Billy Napier, is heading into his third season with the team and has yet to finish above .500. In 2022, Florida went 6-7 and lost in the Las Vegas Bowl, but last season, the team went 5-7 and failed to reach a bowl game.

If things don’t change this season in Gainsville, then Napier will most likely be out of a job, but the 44-year-old head coach got some great news on Thursday that should help him this season.

Jason Zandamela Is Heading To The Gators

Signing a 7-year contract, the Florida Gators program is hopeful Billy Napier can guide one of the biggest college football brands back to the top of the sport.

Hayes Fawcett from On3.com states, “USC inside offensive lineman Jason Zandamela has committed to Florida.”

Usually, when a player enters the portal, they have been at that school for quite some time and then decided it was time for a change, but Jason Zandamela was only at his previous school for three months.

The Clearwater native enrolled at USC in January of this year, and then when spring ball ended, he went right into the portal.

According to 247sports.com, the 6-foot-3 offensive lineman was the number one interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class and should be able to compete for a starting job this season.
