The New Orleans Saints’ Stadium is set to host the Super Bowl on February 9th, 2025.  A Baltimore Ravens’ 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers was the last Super Bowl played at the Superdome in New Orleans.

As well as being the first Super Bowl in which two brothers were the head coaches (Jim and John Harbaugh), Super Bowl 47 is also remembered for a power outage that stopped play for 34 minutes during the third quarter.

Georgia and Notre Dame were scheduled to play in the Sugar Bowl at the Caesars Superdome on Wednesday, but a suspected terrorist attack in New Orleans affected the game.

A Terror Attack on Bourbon Street resulted in the rescheduling of the Sugar Bowl to Thursday after a pickup truck struck 15 people and injured dozens. An official security sweep was conducted at the Superdome, which will host Super Bowl LIX in just over one month.  According to the NFL:

On January 1, NFL issued a statement assuring that Super Bowl LIX on February 9 will be secured at the Caesars Superdome.

It read, “The NFL and the local host committee have been working in collaboration with local, state and the federal agencies over the past two years and have developed comprehensive security plans.”

“These planning sessions will continue as they do with all major NFL events and we are confident that attendees will have a safe and enjoyable experience at the Super Bowl,” wrote the league in a statement.

The event will be televised by Fox in the United States, as well as on Fox Deportes and Telemundo, with Spanish-language commentary, per the outlet.
