As they say in Hollywood, that’s a wrap. The 2022 NFL season is officially over after 3 and a half months of games. The NFL season didn’t disappoint and was full of exciting and interesting events. Events like Tom Brady throwing tablets, teams winning close games, and most recently Damar Hamlin going into cardiac arrest. There were many highs and lows during the NFL season that should be documented. In this article, I provide the highs and lows of the NFL season. The Highs
There were a lot of highs and memorable moments from the NFL season. One of the highs was the New York Giants making the playoffs. The Giants haven’t been to the playoffs since 2016 and have experienced losing seasons. Brian Daboll changed the culture in New York and led the Giants to the playoffs. New York competed each Sunday and proved to be one of the best teams in the NFC. Daboll’s team heads to Minnesota to play the Vikings on January 15.
The Jacksonville Jaguars recently won the AFC South and are headed to the playoffs. Jacksonville needed to get back to the playoffs after a disappointing 2021 season. Jacksonville flipped the script and was red hot at the end of the season. Doug Pederson’s team won five straight games down the stretch. Additionally, Jacksonville beat the Tennessee Titans to secure the AFC South crown. Jacksonville will host the Los Angeles Chargers in the playoffs.
The Kansas City Chiefs won the AFC West and secured the number one seed in the AFC. These accomplishments are significant because Kansas City experienced a lot of turnover during the offseason. Sports analysts believed Kansas City would take a step back after losing Tyreek Hill and adding a handful of young players. Kansas City was able to gel as a team in 2022. As the season progressed Kansas City caught fire and established themselves as a great team.
The Lows
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers missed the playoffs. The Green Bay Packers have been one of the better teams in the NFC. Unfortunately Green Bay couldn’t put everything together. The Packers lost multiple games, the offense looked sloppy, and the team wasn’t connected. Aaron Rodgers passed for 3,695 yards, threw 26 touchdowns, and a career-high 12 interceptions. Green Bay’s playoff chances faded away after losing to the Detroit Lions.
Another low of the 2022 NFL season was Russell Wilson and the Broncos struggling. Denver had playoff hopes and there was a lot of excitement for the team. Denver lost multiple games and looked disoriented during the season. Russell Wilson had one of his worst seasons. Nathaniel Hackett wasn’t prepared to be a head coach and was fired.
Arizona missed the playoffs after enjoying a good 2021 season. Arizona was hit with a handful of injuries. Kyler Murray tore his ACL and Arizona’s season went down the toilet. The Cardinals have a strong roster that was capable of having a good season. However, Arizona didn’t live up to its potential. Kliff Kingsbury was recently fired by the team. Who knows what’s next for the team in the desert.
