Jalen Ramsey might soon play for the San Francisco 49ers according to Grant Cohn of Sports Illustrated. On Tuesday, Chris Grier, general manager of the Miami Dolphins, confirmed with reporters that cornerback Ramsey will in fact be traded before the start of the 2025 NFL season.
Cohn’s theory that Ramsey might actually go to the San Francisco 49ers comes because of the 30-year-old cornerback’s connections to San Francisco’s defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, and Gus Bradley, who is the assistant head coach of the team. Cohn already formed strong bonds with both Saleh and Bradley during his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“When Jalen Ramsey was drafted by the Jaguars, Robert Saleh was their linebackers coach and Gus Bradley was their head coach. Now they’re on the 49ers.” Grant Cohn tweeted about Jalen Ramsey through his X account.

Jalen Ramsey has been playing for the Miami Dolphins since 2023 and before that played for the Los Angeles Rams from 2019 to 2022. Ramsey entered the NFL after being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the fifth pick in the very first round of the 2016 draft. Before the NFL, Ramsey played college football for the Florida State Seminoles from 2013 to 2015.
The San Francisco 49ers will be eager to improve their record from the 2024 NFL season, with additions of the likes of Jalen Ramsey to their squad. The 49ers finished fourth in the previous NFL season after winning only six games and losing 11. The team played their last game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals, losing with a final score of 47-24, after which they were shown the door out of the NFL tournament.

Jalen Ramsey’s Miami Teammate, Tyreek Hill, Might Also Be Traded
In the same press conference, Miami’s GM Chris Grier also spoke about the rumors of wide receiver Tyreek Hill being traded from the team. However, Grier did not give the same confident response when it came to Tyreek Hill, like he did for Jalen Ramsey. In fact, Grier went on to admit that while the team is definitely not considering trading away Tyreek Hill, they might still consider it if the offer is too good.
“That is not anything that we’re pursuing. Like I said, if someone wants to come and give me two first-round picks, then we’d consider it. But, as of right now, it’s not something we’re considering.” Chris Grier said in the press conference about Tyreek Hill’s trade rumors.

Tyreek Hill, also known as ‘Cheetah’, has been playing for the Miami Dolphins from 2022, and before that played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2016 to 2021. Hill is a strong pillar of Miami’s defense, but has been rumored to be seeking a trade from the team.
