The NFL world was recently hit with a few stories that were blatant fabrications and some media members, not realizing, went with these stories. One of the stories was that Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis was expecting a child with a young women and influencer Hayden Hopkins.
She put all those rumors to bed on Monday night when she revealed that the owner is not in fact the father. But that was after Pat McAfee, the former punter, had ran with the story. Now he is apologizing for carrying and spreading this lie.
Pat McAfee Got Caught In False Reports
The rumors started because Hopkins had been seen in the owners box, but that was way back in 2022, and while there were rumors of her and the owner dating, that was never official. While some expected Davis to be the father, it was simply just rumors and nothing actually true. McAfee, who had shared this story as well, thinking it was true, later found out the rumors to be false and fabricated.
McAfee had made reference to the rumor during JD McDonagh’s match against Braun Strowman on WWE’s “Raw” saying:
“A lot of people look at the size difference and think JD has no chance. Mark Davis is 70 years old and is expecting a child with a 26-year-old. Anything is possible in this modern world!” McAfee said.
Later on his show on Tuesday, he apologized for the reference spreading false information.

Pat McFee Apologizes For The Lie
In a lengthy apology, he made sure to say that he was perpetuating lies and that it is very important to get these things right in the media.
“I apologize for perpetuating a lie,” McAfee said, via the New York Post.
“I understand how happy you guys should be at this moment. It would suck to have a 70-year-old billionaire looming over it. So I’d like to apologize to Hayden and let the world know, hey, we gotta make sure we get these things right. I spread lies in the middle of the Braun Strowman-JD McDonagh match last night. Mark Davis is not the father.”
Hopkins also shared that the owner and her were never romantically involved with eachother:
“Reports of Mark Davis being the father of my child are wildly untrue,” Hopkins wrote. “I was pictured sitting next to him at a game in 2022 and have endured false rumors of a romantic relationship since. I was just a guest sitting in the owner’s box with other friends.
“These continued media stories are negatively affecting what should be my happiest days. Joey and I are excited to welcome our baby this fall.”
