Even though it has been years since he retired from the NFL, defensive end Michael Strahan is still continuing to live life in the best way he can. Part of that journey too is a new update on his daughter’s battle against cancer, one that would leave football fans emotional about this new development.
Strahan’s path to NFL stardom was anything but conventional. After setting a school record with 41.5 sacks at the lesser-known Texas Southern University, he was selected by the New York Giants in the 1993 draft. The defensive end quickly established himself as an elite pass rusher, leading the league in sacks in 2001 and 2003.
Strahan’s crowning achievement came in 2008, when he helped the Giants upset the previously undefeated New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. He retired shortly after, capping off a career that included seven Pro Bowl selections and four first-team All-Pro honors. His impact extended beyond the field, as his gap-toothed smile and engaging personality made him a popular commercial spokesman and television personality.
Following his retirement, Strahan co-hosted the syndicated talk show “Live! With Kelly and Michael,” winning two Daytime Emmy Awards. He later transitioned to co-hosting “Good Morning America” and hosting the game show “The $100,000 Pyramid.” Strahan’s remarkable journey from an obscure college player to a Hall of Fame defensive end and media mogul is a testament to his talent, work ethic, and charisma.
NFL Legend Michael Strahan Drops Update About Daughter’s Battle Against Cancer
Earlier this year, Strahan’s daughter, Isabella was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Just recently, though, she went through the last round of chemotherapy, as detailed in an article by Andrew McCarty for The Spun.
“On Sunday Strahan shared a video of his daughter, Isabella, ringing the bell, signifying her final round of chemotherapy. The NFL legend shared a video of Isabella ringing the bell and offered a message for his daughter,” McCarty wrote.
“Isabella, you are a SUPERWOMAN! Ringing that bell finishing chemo and on your way! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾You continue to fight with a smile on your face, strength, and determination. I am one proud Dad! Love you, Bella,” he said in a post on Instagram.
At the time of the diagnosis, Isabella was found to have medulloblastoma, a cancerous tumor in the brain that affects muscle coordination, movement, and balance. Fortunately, the treatment on Strahan’s daughter has projected in a good chance for recovery.
With the last bout of chemotherapy done, the Giants defensive end and his family can focus on helping Isabella get better. Hopefully, that’ll come in the soonest time possible.
