Two lifelong NFL fans are vowing never to go back to a game after getting violently attacked by another fan. It is really sad to be talking about something like this when it comes to the NFL, as this is a league that is supposed to bring people together, and for these two fans, it did just the opposite.
Dallas Cowboys Fans Hospitalized Over Violent Attack
Two Dallas Cowboys lifelong fans attended their first game ever at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas earlier this season. Specifically, the two fans attended the wildly entertaining game the Cowboys played against the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore won that game 28-25 and fended off a wild Cowboys comeback attempt in the fourth quarter.
Following the game, however, the two fans were brutally attacked by another fan in the crowd. Both Wenceslao Gonzalez and his wife, Lindsey, ended up in the hospital because of the violent attack and are now vowing to never return to a Dallas game because of it.
The two Cowboys fans witnessed a younger woman who was being harrassed by an older man after the game and they attempted to intervene to help. When they tried to help though they were attacked by the older man, who punched Wenceslao in the face and then hit Lindsey as well who was trying to break things up. While Wenceslao suffered minor injuries his wife Lindsey suffered 12 fractures in her face and had to go to the hospital!
Here’s more, from the New York Post:
Wenceslao Gonzalez was the first to intervene and got into an argument with the man, later identified as 32-year-old Rafael Antonio Ramirez, who punched him in the face.
Ramirez then turned his fury toward Lindsey Gonzalez when she tried to separate the two men.
He allegedly knocked her out with a single punch and kicked her in the face as she lay motionless, the outlet reported citing the Arlington Police.
Lindsey, who suffered brutal injuries vowed that they would never return for games after this violence:
“I never want to go back there,” Lindsey said.
She said she has a hazy memory of what happened and mostly just woke up in the hospital.
“I know he was in my husband’s face and he had already hit my husband in the face,” she said. “I was trying to separate them. And that’s all I remember. Next thing I remember was waking up in the hospital.”
The man who attacked them, 32-year-old Rafael Antonio Ramirez, is facing serious charges.
“I never wish bad upon anybody or want to see any harm come to anybody,” she said. “I do want him to pay for what he’s done though, and I want it to be fair and just. Our whole world has been turned upside down. Our lives may never be the same after this.”
This is truly a horrible thing to occur at an NFL game, and there is no reason for such violence when it comes to entertainment. If I were them, I would also vow never to return to that environment, and watch the game from the comfort and safety of my home. The league needs to do something to get rid of this senseless violence at their games that is becoming way too regular!
