NFL Fans Are All Backing Justin Fields After Classy Reaction To Benching

NFL fans are all heading to social media to share their support and backing of Justin Fields to be the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is being backed not only for the way he has played so far this season and starting with a 4-2 record but also for the way he reacted to being demoted for Rusell Wilson.

Fields is a young man, but dealt with this situation in the absolute best way possible, and it highlights that he is a starter in the NFL and that it is only a matter of time till that happens again.

Justin Fields Shows High-Level Maturity In His Reaction To Benching

Wilson is presumed to be getting the start for the team this Sunday, and Fields who led the team to a fantastic start is getting demoted to the backup position. If anyone expected Fields to be all down about the team’s decision they’d be wrong.

Fans are loving the maturity that Fields showed in how he responded to the team’s decision. When the media questioned him about how he felt about Wilson taking the starting role, he made a point to highlight that if he played better then it wouldn’t have even been a question that he’d remain the starter:

“I don’t think I played good enough if I’m being real with you,” Fields said. “If I’m being real with myself, if I did play well enough, I don’t think there would be any sort of (question) who should be playing who should not.”

Justin Fields very candid today: “I don’t think I played good enough if I’m being real with you.

This is an amazing response from such a young player who has already dealt with a bit of brutal treatment in his young career. Many fans believe that he played well enough for it to not be a question that he should remain the starter, including future Hall of Fame Steelers former quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Fields is one play away in the Dallas game from a 5-1 start to the season, and the locker room is behind him. If Wilson has a slower start it could tank their year in all the wrong ways.

NFL Fans Love What Justin Fields Said

Fans are incredibly impressed with the young quarterback,k to say the least, and seemingly all think that he should be the starter for the team:

“Impossible not to root for this guy. You try to be as objective as you can in this business, but it is so refreshing to see someone with a million valid excuses for the offensive struggles right in front of him, and he takes full responsibility just for his part in it. So cool,” one user declared on X.

“Yeah, this sounds like a guy who won’t be starting this week for the #Steelers. And I don’t agree. I think he has played well enough to keep starting. He certainly didn’t *lose* the job,” wrote another.

“Justin Fields is a class act. Much respect. #Steelers #NFL,” a third wrote.

Wilson will have a short leash as Fields has already shown what he can do. If Wilson does not at least do as well as Fields there will be an entire fan base that will be demanding a switch back. It is rather surprising that Tomlin is going with Wilson, as Fields is the future of the team.

Either way, Fields may not be on the bench for too long. The Steelers schedule is going to get quite tough, and what Fileds has started may end up in flames. Here’s their remaining schedule.

They have all their divisional games left to play and while the Browns are quite terrible, the ravens and Bengals won’t be as easy. Only time will tell if this is a huge mistake.
