NFL free agency this year has been a crazy one to say the least. On Tuesday the New York Jets made their latest move and are officially bringing in veteran wide receiver Mike Williams. Williams will be huge addition for Aaron Rodgers, who is coming back from a brutal injury, and will look to make an immediate impact for the team. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team is singing Williams to a one year deal worth up to $15 million.
NFL Fans Love The Pairing Of Aaron Rodgers And Mike Williams
Aaron Rodgers will be looking to make a huge comeback season with the Jets after missing the entirety of the 2023 season to an Achilles injury. Having Williams now to join Garrett Wilson will be a fearsome tandem for Rodgers. Fans were quick to point this out and even non Jets fans are fired up too. Here are some of the best fan and players reactions:
“I REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS MOVE!” said former NFL wide receiver Dez Bryant.
“If Mike Williams can stay healthy he should fit in well with the #Jets offense,” added Jets fan Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap.
“I’m ready to start talking crazy,” another Jets fan chimed in.
“Now draft Bowers at 10! Let’s get crazy!” a third Jets fan added.
“If son can stay healthy man look…” said NBC Sports researcher Justin Thomas.
Can Mike Williams Stay Healthy For The New York Jets
As fans have been loving this signing, there is however one issue that could come up. Williams has been sensational every time he steps on the field but the receiver has had some issues just staying on the field. He missed almost all of last season with the Chargers due to injury and that is not the first time.
Williams has struggled with staying healthy even back in college which is why the Chargers cut him to begin with. But if he can manage to stay on the field, Rodgers will definitely utilize him as the second option in the pass game for the team. Rodgers has made his receivers better consistently going back to his time in Green Bay, and now with gang green he will try to do that again with Williams and Wilson leading the way at receiver.
