The New England Patriots have a very important draft decision ahead of them for this years NFL draft, and that will be what they are going to do with the No. 3 overall pick, All indications are that the team will be taking a quarterback, and the Patriots have been doing their due diligence on all the top prospects that will be available with their pick. On Tuesday, a report came out that the team took their time with one of the top prospects in the draft.
New England Patriots Set To Have Lengthy Meeting With Jayden Daniels
NFL insider Jeff Howe reported that the New England Patriots are scheduling a ‘lenghty meeting’ with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. The recent Heisman Trophy winner has been thought of as a top 3 pick in this years draft. While the team is also checking out Drake Maye and J.J. McCarthy, there seems to be extra attention given to Daniels by the organization.
“The Patriots will have a lengthy meeting tonight with LSU QB Jayden Daniels before attending his pro day tomorrow, per sources. They’ll then attend UNC QB Drake Maye’s pro day Thursday,” Howe wrote on X.
For the Patriots, it will all depend on who the Washington Commanders take with their second overall pick. It seems however, that If Jayden Daniels is there for the Patriots, they will jump on that as fast as possible.
New England Patriots May Trade Down In NFL Draft
While the team seems to desperately want Jayden Daniels to be their quarterback of the future, he very well may be selected at the the number two slot with the pick right before the Patriots. If that is the case, they may go with a different quarterback or even trade down in their draft for a huge hall of picks.
There are numerous teams that want to trade up in this years draft, as many teams are looking to get their quarterback of the future and know that the top prospects will fly off the board in the top five picks. If the Patriots wanted to trade down, the Minnesota Vikings looks like the realest candidate for a trade.
