The Minnesota Vikings season has not started out as expected. Sitting at 1-4, the probability of making the playoffs shrinks with every passing week. Because of this, many analysts have wondered whether the team will look to move quarterback Kirk Cousins. He is in the last year of his deal and it seems like the team will not re-sign him. Ahead of week 6, Adam Schefter dropped a massive update on the trade rumors.
Vikings’ QB Kirk Cousins is expected to remain in Minnesota this season and will not look to waive the no-trade clause in his contract — short of changing unforeseen circumstances.https://t.co/pVBqYnCiGo

Update Minnesota Vikings Kirk Cousins Trade Rumors
According to Adam Schefter, Cousins is not expected to waive his no-trade clause. He was asked about waiving the clause and avoided giving a straight answer. “I’m just very focused on the Bears and going 1-0 this week,” Cousins told reporters. “Anything else is just not worth my time or energy or attention.”
As of right now, his family is settled in Minnesota and he wants to stay regardless of the record. If he is going to look for a new team, he also seems to want a new deal which seems unlikely at the midseason point. The no-trade clause was always the hurdle with this move. Even if they want to move him, they have to get the okay from Cousins and that seems like it will not happen.
Will Minnesota Tank For A Quarterback?
The Vikings currently hold the fourth pick in the upcoming draft. With Justin Jefferson heading to the IR for at least the next four weeks and the defense struggling to stop anyone, the Vikings may continue their recent slide. The good news for the team is that this is a very quarterback-rich class. If they can tank this season, a top prospect could be paired with Jefferson and rookie Jordan Addison which could help accelerate the rebuilding process in Minnesota.
It looks like Kirk Cousins will be a part of the Minnesota Vikings for the rest of the 2023 season. However, he will be one of the most tantalizing free agents in the offseason and it will be interesting to see where he plays football next.
