According to WAFB Sports Director Jacques Doucet, former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy passed away in Houston at the age of 24:
His close friend, Rontrell Sandolph—who also hails from Louisiana—confirmed the heartbreaking news with a deeply emotional tribute on Instagram.
“2!!! I’m so lost for words. I’m speechless. I went to sleep four times and woke up to see if it was a dream when Mrs. Kandace called me,” Randolph wrote. “The dreams we had started to kick in— you making it to the NFL & me playing ball overseas! Our dreams were becoming reality… We talked and cried and laughed it off every day, bro.
I’m speechless! Big brother, love you infinitely. Tell Quan I’m fine out here, and y’all watch over me. Don’t let me quit for nothing! And I can’t forget—YOU WERE A LEGEND. You received your flowers.”
Lacy’s death comes just days before a grand jury was scheduled to begin hearing evidence in a deadly hit-and-run case in Lafourche Parish, for which he’d been arrested earlier this year.
On the field, Lacy was considered one of the most dynamic and promising wide receivers in the nation. Many believed he was the next star to emerge from LSU’s storied pipeline of elite receivers, following in the footsteps of Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Malik Nabers.
During his senior season with the Tigers, Lacy caught 58 passes for 866 yards and nine touchdowns. He began his college career at Louisiana before transferring to LSU in 2022, where he spent the last three seasons making his mark.

Fans have been completely divided on this topic:

Oh Kyren Lacy. What a horrible situation man….
Caught a negligent homicide charge when he killed someone on accident while driving reckless.
And now a couple weeks from the draft, found deceased inside his home. I really hope it’s not suicide but many are saying it
