One of the biggest stories in the NFL this season has been the Detroit Lions and quarterback Jared Goff. Detroit is 8-1 this season and they are in the driver’s seat for the number one seed in the NFC.

This week they will face the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last week, the Lions defeated the Houston Texans 26-23 on the road in a game they were trailing in for the most part.
ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky Thinks That Detroit Lions Quarterback Jared Goff MVP Case Is Over

There are still eight games remaining in the NFL regular season and it will be interesting to see who could be the front-runner for MVP. One of the front runners entering last weekend was Lions quarterback Jared Goff. He threw five interceptions in the win last week against the Houston Texans.
Dan Orlovsky went onto First Take on Thursday and said about the Lions’ star quarterback:
“No one has championed Jared Goff more. His MVP case is over. You don’t throw five interceptions in primetime television and still be in that race.”
Jared Goff this season has completed 71.8% of his passes for 2,080 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He is 14th in the NFL in passing yards, seventh in the NFL in passing touchdowns, and is one of the leaders in the NFL in interceptions thrown.
It will be interesting to see how well he does against the Jaguars this weekend. Goff has been very good this season before the very bad Houston Texans game last weekend.
Fans React

Goff is reliant on an elite OL and scheme that lets him throw short to receiver who are really good at yac. He does really well at completing easy tasks.
He’s not asked to “carry” a team like other QBs in the league who are asked to complete much harder tasks.

Hey Dano. Purdy threw 0TD 4 int in a prime time game Loss last year and finished top 4 in MVP last year.

I love you @danorlovsky7 but mvp is a season long race! It’s not the heisman. I don’t think he was ever gonna win but not because of a bad game that his team won!

There are a lot of people who think Dan Orlovsky’s take was ridiculous about Lions quarterback Jared Goff. Hopefully, he will silence his doubters for the final eight games of the 2024 NFL season to get back into the MVP race.
