The Detroit Lions have not been shy about their love for Jahmyr Gibbs. After selecting the Alabama running back 12th overall in the draft, they have been gushing about the physical ability of Gibbs. Under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, the team is planning to use him heavily in the running and passing game. Gibbs thinks that this season could be a historic one.

Detroit Lions Jahmyr Gibbs On 2023 Season
Gibbs is chasing the elusive 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards season. With so many running backs going to a platoon, it is becoming more rare for a back to reach these benchmarks. Only Christian McCaffrey hit this last year with 1,139 yards and 741 receiving. Other backs have gotten close but have narrowly missed the 1,000-yard mark. While Gibbs is part of a platoon with David Montgomery, the Lions have been vocal about using the back in unique ways.

Can The Lions Live Up To Expectations?
This is the latest high expectation that the Lions have been given for the season. The team is favored by many to win the NFC North but with high expectations comes the possibility of high disappointment. Jameson Williams is out for six games and outside of Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown, the pass-catching group has some questions. The defense got better but needs to be able to consistently stop the high-powered offenses of the league. It is going to be tough but the good news is the NFC is weak making the path to the playoffs easier.
If nothing else, Jahmyr Gibbs is going to be fun to watch on the Detroit Lions. After years of disappointment, fans are hoping this is finally the year the team finds success.
