Like many people around the United State, NFL players, both current and former, made their feelings and opinions known regarding the recent Presidential election. Some stars, such as San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Nick Bosa, were vocal supporters of President-elect Donald Trump. Former Pittsburgh Steelers stars Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, along with Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, also endorsed Trump in the days and weeks leading up to the election.
Others, such as Emmitt Smith and Calvin Johnson, endorsed Kamala Harris.
Of course, the election is now over and President-elect Trump has started going about the business of filling his Cabinet. One decision he made regarding a new government position he is creating drew the attention of on high-profile former NFL star.
Former NFL Star David Bakhtiari Reacts to Recent Donald Trump Announcement
On Tuesday, President-elect Trump announced that there will be a new department in his upcoming administration, that of the Department of Government Efficiency.
To lead this new department, Trump has selected Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.
Former Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari responded to the news with the following post:
This should get VERY interesting. https://t.co/MlsrBgWoOc
— David Bakhtiari (@DavidBakhtiari) November 13, 2024
As one can see from the post that Bakhtiari quoted, the purpose of the Department of Government Efficiency is to “dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.”
Musk, of course, is the richest man in the world and owns several multi-billion-dollar businesses such as X and SpaceX. Ramaswamy is an entrepreneur who founded the pharmaceutical company Roviant Sciences.
While both men are polarizing figures who had major roles in Trump’s campaign, there are those that wonder if their expertise in business will carry over to politics and the American government.
Others have pointed out, perhaps correctly, that it is quite ironic that the Department of Government Efficiency is getting two people to be in charge of it. One would have assumed that such a department, dedicated to efficiency, would have just one person in charge.
