The Dallas Cowboys had a sudden end to their season after losing to the Green Bay Packers. This team was among the best in the regular season but did not play well on Sunday. Dak Prescott and the rest of the offense weren’t able to get anything going until 3 seconds left of the first half, when they scored their first touchdown.
Besides the offense not able to put points up, the defense was even worse as they could not get a stop against Jordan Love and this young Packers group. Romeo Doubs had a career day with over 150 receiving yards and the one veteran on the offense, Aaron Jones had 3 touchdowns with over 100 rushing yards.
The Cowboys were completely caught off-guard by the 9-8 Packers in their own stadium. Previously to this game, the team was undefeated at home throughout the 2023 season.
What Player(s) Can “Fix” The Cowboys Championship Draught?
It’s hard to think that a player can take this team back to the championship game, but if the Cowboys cut some players that are not needed, they will be able to free up some cap. With this new cap, the team could be aggressive buyers in the offseason and fill whatever holes that they still have. It would not be a surprise to see them pursue interior defensive players and/or linebackers to help with stopping the run.
The biggest hole that needs to be filled is the offensive line. The run game was tough to watch most of the season because Tony Pollard would run for 3 yards and then get swarmed by 4 players. The team in all likelihood will move on from Tyron Smith. This move frees cap but also means that the team would need to take another tackle to protect Prescott.
The top lineman that could be available at pick 24 is Amarius Mims. The Georgia tackle has enough speed and strength to be able to play any position in the line that is needed. If the Cowboys were to make this move, they could decide to keep Tyler Smith at guard and move Mims to the left or right tackle spot, depending on wherever he is needed.
How the Cowboys Will Finish Their 2024 Campaign
It is no secret that Dallas has one of the top rosters in all of the NFL. The team is always one of the top regular season teams but there has to be some way that they can start winning the big games in the Playoffs. Cowboys were nearly 8 point favorites going into their matchup with the Packers and lost by 16 points.
With an improved offensive line and maybe the addition of one or two defensive players to help stop the run, there is no reason that this team should not be able to do just that. Fans have been waiting for the Cowboys, year after year, to win another super bowl, yet are just left with disappointment. Sooner or later, the disappointment has to end.
