As the NFL draft approaches, there has been nothing but hype surrounding many notable quarterback prospects  for this year. It should be noted that the stats say that only one of these guys will end up being good while the rest are most probably going to be busts. Back in 2021, there was a lot of hype surrounding the quarterback prospects but almost all of their careers are basically over in the NFL.

2021 NFL Draft: Only Trevor Lawrence Remains

Trevor Lawrence was the number one overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2021 draft and he is the only quarterback that was selected in top five quarterbacks to remain with his team in just four seasons. Trevor is the only quarterback to come out of this draft and proved himself to be a franchise quarterback. All the rest of the top 5 have proven the opposite.

In his first three season, Trevor has been up and down but mostly up besides for injuries. He has completed 63.8% of his passes for 11,770 yards and 58 touchdowns. He is sure to only get better.

Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, And Mac Jones Are Busts

Three of the next four quarterbacks to be drafted are all not on the teams that drafted them. Mac Jones was the most recent to change teams as he is now going to be the back up for none other than Trevor Lawrence. Mac’s time in New England was short lived and mostly awful. Mac may have another chance to see the field but it probably won’t come any time soon barring an injury.

Zach Wilson has yet to find his next team, but it is official now that his time with the New York Jets is over. Wilson was simply not good in almost every game he played and he is likely to be a backup going further. Trey Lance was the first to be traded from the team that drafted him and is now a back up for the Dallas Cowboys. Going from the second overall pick to a backup is how the NFL works.

    Where Will Justin Fields Go?

Justin Fields has been at the center of many trade rumors. His time with the Chicago Bears will be coming to an end this off season as the team is certain to select Caleb Williams with the top pick of the draft. While Fields has been up and down, he has been the second best quarterback of this draft.

All this is just to say that although there is hype on many quarterbacks this year to come in and be amazing from the jump, history will tell us that only one quarterback will be elite from this years NFL draft.
