The Philadelphia Eagles are the kings of the NFL right now after successfully thwarting the three-peat dreams of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. With the Eagles beating the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, they are clearly the team to beat in the eyes of the rest of the league, including one of the teams they defeated along the way in the playoffs of the 2024 NFL season.
The Washington Commanders, who finished second in the NFC East division in 2024 with a 12-5 record, lost to Jalen Hurts and the Eagles in the NFC Championship game, should have a greater conference in themselves in 2025 after surprising a lot of people with their overall play on the field.
The Washington Commanders are still a threat to the Eagles

Many believe that Jayden Daniels and the Commanders will still be a playoff – and Super Bowl – contender in the 2025 campaign. After all, they have a promising quarterback in Daniels, whom Washington picked as the 2022 NFL draft’s second overall selection. That high draft pick investment paid dividends right away, as he threw for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions on a 69.0 percent completion rate.
For Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com, the Commanders are one of the teams with the potential to unseat the Eagles in 2025.
Washington was the feel-good story of 2024, which amounts to good and bad news. The good news is that head coach Dan Quinn immediately established a winning culture within a franchise that had been languishing for years and found a burgeoning superstar in quarterback Jayden Daniels, last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year. The bad news is that the Commanders won’t be sneaking up on anybody any longer.
But as mentioned by Chadiha, the surprise factor is gone now for the Commanders. Nevertheless, the secret is out is that they are a team capable of winning a bunch of games and going deep in the playoffs with Daniels under center.
