In what appears to be perhaps the final unofficial move before it becomes official, Zach Wilson will not be playing for the New York Jets next season. On Friday, his home in New Jersey hit the housing market, going for nearly $1 million.
The former BYU quarterback has not officially been traded for any team, and the most likely suitors have already appeared to make moves on other quarterbacks, making Wilson’s future in the league a mystery.
It is no secret that Wilson and the Jets have not been on the same page for some time now. During the regular season, Wilson and the Jets organization said things about each other that suggested that the relationship between the two was destined to end. Last month, it was announced that the Jets would be open to trading the former number two pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The New York Jets Also Make Their Intentions Very Clear
Earlier this week, the Jets also announced the signing of QB Tyrod Taylor, further cementing the reality that Jets were moving on from Wilson who has had quite the roller coaster of a career up to this point.
Ideally, Wilson would like to have already found a new home by this point. The reality of him starting somewhere in the NFL next season probably disappeared the second the Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of Sam Darnold, so now the question becomes where he can play backup for another QB.
Where Could Wilson End Up?
There are still a few teams that make sense, such as the LA Rams or the Kansas City Chiefs, but with the NFL Draft less than a month away, few teams may want to take Wilson right now when they can wait a month and see what is available in the later rounds of the Draft.
Wilson has not made any public statements lately regarding where he believes he will end up or where he could be most effective, however he has said multiple times that he is not done and that he intends on having a long and successful career in the NFL.
