The New York Jets are busily preparing for the 2024 NFL season. With four-time NFL MVP quarterback and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers back and healthy this year, the Jets believe that they have a chance to do something they have not done since 2010: make the NFL Playoffs. Their ultimate goal, of course, is to win the Super Bowl for the first time since 1969.
In order to achieve these goals, general manager Joe Douglas went out and signed a plethora of free agents that will, they hope, improve their team. Among these are left tackle Tyron Smith and wide receiver Mike Williams.
As all NFL teams are, the Jets are getting ready for the upcoming season by participating in training camp, something that Rodgers feels is “overrated.”
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Says Training Camp Is Overrated
Earlier on Tuesday, the Jets’ social media team posted a video of players answering the prompt, “Name something that is overrated.” Many of the responses involve food, with former Wisconsin Badgers running back Braelon Allen shockingly stating “Barbeque.”
When it was Rodgers’ turn to offer his answer, he simply said, “Training camp,” and then walked on.

Earlier this offseason, Rodgers famously missed mandatory minicamp to go on a previously planned trip to Egypt. His absence has drawn a great deal of criticism from the media, though it is worth noting that none of his teammates seemed to have a problem with it.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Has an Interesting History with Training Camp
Last season, following his trade away from the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers was present at every single offseason activity, including mandatory minicamp.
The future Pro Football Hall of Famer, though, did not always attend that many offseason activities during his final years with the Packers. After Green Bay drafted Jordan Love, Rodgers stopped coming to voluntary OTA’s and minicamp.
After he won his third NFL MVP Award following the 2020 season, he also held out of training camp, clearly unhappy with the front office.
In 2022, Rodgers skipped the voluntary workouts again despite the fact that Green Bay had three rookie wide receivers. He did not spend the necessary time to build chemistry with them during the offseason, and the product on the field reflected that.
Entering his 20th NFL season, it is easy to see why Rodgers has an aversion to training camp. He knows what he needs to do in order to be ready for the upcoming season.
But other players don’t, and the chemistry a team builds during camp can be vital to their success during the regular season.
Hopefully this was just a quip and not something Rodgers truly believes
