East Rutherford, NJ -- August 10, 2024 -- Aaron Rodgers at the end of the game as the Washington Commanders came to MetLife Stadium to play the New York Jets in the first preseason game of the 2024 season. The Jets topped the Commanders 20-17.

Along with all of his accomplishments on the field, New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers is also known for his controversial views. The most recent was when the quarterback said that preseason football games don’t mean anything at all.

Over a month ago, Rodgers provided an encouraging update on his recovery from the Achilles injury that prematurely ended his 2023 season. According to the quarterback, he felt good all spring during his rehabilitation process and is nearing a full return to 100% health.

Rodgers missed the Jets’ mandatory minicamp in June to take a trip to Egypt, but he clarified that this absence was communicated with the team and did not cause any tension within the organization. Prior to the trip, the New York star had participated in the team’s voluntary OTAs without limitations, stating that he was feeling around 90% himself physically.

The veteran quarterback acknowledged that the recovery process has its challenges, but he is confident that he will be back to his usual self before the season starts. Rodgers emphasized the importance of hitting certain benchmarks in his recovery and expressed optimism that the remaining time before the season will allow him to regain full confidence and mobility.

Even though he’s good to go, Jets fans shouldn’t keep their hopes up when it comes to seeing Rodgers in preseason action. In a video shared by Jets Videos on X, the quarterback shared his mind about this part of the NFL.

Moreover, Rodgers quipped that he is more prone to getting hit at practice now. To prepare for the season, the Jets will hold joint practices with the Panthers and Giants, allowing Rodgers to face off against opposing teams before the games start to matter.

The Jets’ outlook for the upcoming season will hinge heavily on Rodgers’ ability to make a full recovery and lead the team’s offense. His positive progress report is a welcome sign, although fans shouldn’t expect to see the quarterback play any preseason games anytime soon.
