New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is one of the best players to ever play in the NFL. He is also one of the most controversial. Rodgers’ opinions on politics and current events have often put him in the limelight, leading to criticism of him as a person and accusations of being a locker room distraction.

Unfortunately, disagreements over politics and other social topics lead to personal attacks. Both Rodgers and fans/media are guilty of this practice.

One of the things that Rodgers is often attacked for is not having a relationship with his family, whom he has not spoken to in years.

While the exact cause of Rodgers’ falling out with his family is not known, both sides have blamed the other for their fractured relationship. Jordan Rodgers, Aaron’s brother, brought the issue to the forefront of public knowledge when he was a contestant on The Bachelorette.

“It pains both of us not to have that relationship,” he told JoJo Fletcher. “We miss our brother. We just are trusting that God brings things full circle. And just wish that everything would just get back to us being a family.”

Rodgers’ father, Ed, blamed the fame his son has experienced as an NFL player for the rift:  “Fame can change things,” he told The New York Times.

For his part, the four-time NFL MVP and future Hall of Famer has not really addressed his relationship with his family but has confirmed that he has not spoken to them since 2014.

With neither party revealing the cause of their rift, fans and media have spread rumors about what it could be.

Oliva Munn Has Long Been Blamed for the Rift Between New York Jets Quarterback and His Family

Rodgers dated actress Olivia Munn for three years before the couple broke up in 2017. Despite the fact that the quarterback was already not on speaking terms with his family, many blamed his relationship with Munn as the reason why the rift happened.

It was no secret that Munn and Rodgers lived together during their relationship, something that his traditional Christian parents certainly disapproved of.

As mentioned, though, Rodgers and his family already had had their falling out by the time he started dating the actress.

In fact, instead of being the cause of their fractured relationship, Munn had tried to fix it.

Rodgers and his family had not spoken for eight months when he first started dating Munn. After their relationship started, she tried to get him to have a conversation with them to start the healing process.

“They had a nice conversation and then they started coming out my first year when I was in Green Bay in 2014,” Munn had told Andy Cohen back in 2018.

On August 20, Ian O’Connor’s book Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers will hit the shelves of bookstores. In the book, Rodgers confirms that Munn was not the source of the conflict he has with his family. Instead, their fractured relationship has a much deeper cause.

He does say, in the book, that he wants to especially begin the process of having a relationship with his father again:

“I think that was what needed to happen,” he is quoted as saying of reconnecting with his dad at a golf tournament last year. “That was a special moment.”

“Every time I think it’s getting closer some weird things happen. But I would like a relationship with my dad for sure.”
