New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers does not always get the positive headlines that he deserves. Many of the headlines and stories written about him focus on the polarizing and controversial things that he says and does. For instance, much of the talk surrounding Rodgers for the last few weeks as been his decision to skip mandatory minicamp with the Jets to instead go on a pre-planned trip to Egypt (according to reports).
And, of course, many of the beliefs that he holds come under fire when he voices his opinion on various topics during podcast appearances that he does. Many of these are, indeed, quite polarizing and controversial. They are also important points of discussion, as they create conversations that are very much worth having.
It is important, though, to remember that Rodgers is more than a highly accomplished quarterback with opinions that go against the mainstream. He’s also a compassionate human being.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Donated $100,000 to Help California Wildfire Victims
As seems to be the case just about every year, the state of California is being devastated by wildfires. A couple of days ago, it was reported that Rodgers, who was born in Butte County in California, had donated $100,000 to help the victims affected by the fires.
He also released the following statement:
“With the help of my friends at the North Valley Community Foundation, I will always be committed to helping my beloved Northern California home areas. My heart goes out to the families and communities affected, and we will be deploying funds immediately to help those in need.”
This is not the first time that Rodgers has shown such generosity to wildfire victims either. Back in 2018, when Paradise, California burned to the ground, many of its residents were displaced to Chico, which is Rodgers’ hometown.
At that time, he donated $1 million to help the people affected.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Has Raised and Donated Millions of Dollars for Charity
Rodgers has been in the NFL for going on 20 years now. In that time, he has always gone above and beyond in order to give back, even though he has not always received the recognition he deserves for it.
According Emily Reilly of WBAY in Green Bay, Rodgers helped grant more than 100 wishes with the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Wisconsin during his time with the Packers.
Rodgers also took part in the NFL’s “My Cause, My Cleats” initiative to raise money and awareness for the MACC Fund. The MACC (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) Fund was organized by former Milwaukee Bucks Champion Jon McGlocklin. Rodgers has helped raise or has donated millions of dollars to help fight childhood cancer through his work with the Fund.
