The New York Jets entered Sunday with only four defensive tackles on their active roster. Javon Kinlaw signed a lucrative contract with the Washington Commanders, and Solomon Thomas signed a team-friendly deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Also, Leki Fotu and Bruce Hector remain unsigned. Finally, excluding Quinnen Williams, the other three players have combined for 21 career starts.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets signed Derrick Nnadi to a contract.

Nnadi is on his second team and eighth year of his NFL career after spending the first seven with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 3x Super Bowl Champion had a solid tenure with the Chiefs, recording 233 tackles, seven TFLs, eight QB hits, five sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble in 115 regular season games, along with 38 tackles, three TFLs, three QB hits, and one sack in 18 playoff games.
The newcomer had an underwhelming 2024 campaign

Derrick Nnadi had an underwhelming 2024 campaign, losing the starting job to Tershawn Wharton and playing a career-low 20% of defensive snaps. Nnadi recorded a career-low 11 tackles in 17 regular season games and one start, along with four tackles in the postseason. He also had five run stops, a 3.1% run-stop win rate, three pressures, and a 2% pass-rush win rate.
