Aaron Rodgers has never been one to shy away from controversy, The New York Jets QB has always been vocal when it comes to the strangest issues, but he always managed to keep the attention on his wild takes at a minimum thanks to his on-field play.
However, he might’ve gone a little too far this time. Analysts have voiced their displeasure on the surprise vice-presidential candidate‘s opinions.
Morning Joe hosts call out New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers for claiming the Sandy Hook shooting was an inside job
After the story broke that Aaron Rodgers believed the Sandy Hook tragedy was planned by the government, Morning Joe hosts Wille Geist and Jonathan Lemire didn’t hesitate to call him out for his irresponsible take.
Raw Story’s Tom Boggioni wrote about what the hosts thought about his sentiments:
Sports Podcaster Pablo Toirre kicked off the conversation, stating, “I just want to attack this from the perspective of a Jets fan. I have a lot of takes about just what this means… I say all of this to say: If I’m a Jet fan, how do I feel? Even beyond the human horror of what that means.”
Co-host Geist then chimed in, “Kennedy and Rodgers, of course, corresponded over their vaccine skepticism, denialism. CNN highlights the conspiracy theory, allegedly shared by Aaron Rodgers about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting not being real. This is Alex Jones stuff. It is disgusting, appalling.”
“Aaron Rodgers, his play was slipping in his time in Green Bay. He played four plays last year before he was injured, suffered an Achilles tendon injury we don’t know how he’ll bounce back,” Lemire replied. “That’s just the football context. It is the most loathsome conspiracy theory out there. If he believes it, he is a loathsome human being.”
Rodgers didn’t get to play in his first season with the Jets due to a gruesome injury, but he’s had a Hall of Fame career. In his 230 games with the Green Bay Packers, he’s passed for 59,055 yards and 475 touchdowns.
While he will surely get on Canton for his on-field achievements, his off-field personality might put him in the same lane as Brett Favre, the man he usurped the starting QB job from years ago.
