The New York Giants are looking to add more free agents to the roster and one of the names that’s on the list is cornerback Tre’Davious White. White was released earlier this offseason by the Buffalo Bills. White is 29 years old and he was the 27th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by Buffalo out of LSU.
Tre’Davious White has been dealing with some injuries over the past couple of seasons, including a Torn Achilles injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the 2023 season. He suffered that in a Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins. White this past season recorded 12 tackles, one interception, and two pass deflections.
When healthy, White can be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. There are a few teams that are looking at him and that does include the New York Giants.
New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen Knows Who Cornerback Tre’Davious White Is Considering the Fact Scohen Was in the Buffalo Bills
Schoen was in the Buffalo Bills front office before he took the Giants general manager job. He was the assistant general manager to Brandon Beane. The connection with White and the Giants would make sense. New York does need more help at the cornerback position. Deonte Banks is the top cornerback on the team, but they don’t have a clear number two on the roster.
White would be the other starting cornerback on the opposite side of Banks. They just re-signed Darnay Holmes on the roster and Jordan Hawkins struggled at times last season. Cor’Dale Flott is also on the roster at the cornerback position and did get better as the season went on, but the New York Giants can always improve at the position.
White in his NFL career has been a pro bowler two times. Whoever he signs with, it will probably be his last go around. It makes too much sense for him not to sign with the Giants because of the past connections with him and the Buffalo Bills. Giants head coach Brian Daboll was also the offensive coordinator for the Bills when Tre’Davious White played for that franchise.
