After the come back win the New York Giants and Tommy Devito pulled off on Monday night against the frisky Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love, Devito’s family in the stands were going wild. Devito’s agent was with his father smiling and celebrating possibly the best story in the NFL right now. The undrafted rookie has now led the Giants to their third win in a row taking the NFL by storm and perhaps creating a quarterback controversy in New York. At best, Devito is playing for a starting job on another team next season.
Devito isn’t just winning, but he is doing it in style and it looks like the Giants are having fun again while doing it. The undrafted rookie still lives at home with his family, and eats his moms cooking before he cooks up some of the defenses in the NFL. On the New York Giants website they highlighted in an article that the Devito craze has stats to back it up, writing:
“In the 74 seasons since the NFL began tracking starting quarterbacks in 1950, DeVito became the first starter in league history to complete at least 80% of his passes, rush for 70+ yards, commit no turnovers and take no sacks.”
Devito isn’t just winning games but he’s doing it in style. You would expect the undrafted rookie to be over the moon about his play and the dream that he’s is living out, but in the post game Devito acted as he usually does, calm and composed like a veteran franchise quarterback. When asked about this historic record he know holds he responded saying:
“It’s cool, I guess,” he said. “I don’t know. I didn’t really think anything of it. It’s kind of just outside stuff.”
It’s definitely cool, and as Devito keeps the hot streak running he may open up a quarterback controversy in New York at best, or at worst is playing to be a starter for another franchise next season.
The New York Giants May Have A Quarterback Controversy On Their Hands
Daniel Jones is a solid starting quarterback himself, and was good enough to receive a huge contract extension. The Giants are most probably not going to move off of Jones no matter how well Devito plays, but would that be a mistake?
Jones has had arguably one good year as a starter, and many fans and analysts around the league felt that the contract extension would be a big mistake for the Giants moving forward. The Giants began this year underperforming coming off Jones’ best season last year. While it would be shocking for the Giants to move off Jones after paying him the big bucks, this is the NFL, and if Devito gives the team a better chance to win then he should be the starter going forward.
In a recent article for Pro Football Network, Lorenzo Reyna writes how many fans are starting to believe there’s a quarterback controversy coming in New York. The article quoted one fan on X saying:
“I didn’t think I could possibly like Tommy DeVito more. But then he goes undrafted, fights his way onto a practice squad, gets unexpectedly thrust into a starting position on a 2-7 team, then wins three straight, including a game-winning drive against the Packers on primetime TV.”
The fan is right on the money about how many feel about Devito and this beautiful story of an undrafted no name rookie rising the ranks of the NFL world. While this is only something the fans seem to want at the moment, if Devito continues this madness there will be many more stories to come out before next season.
Tommy Devito Can Be A Star, But His Agent Already Is

One of the best parts of the Devito story taking the NFL by storm, is his agent, Sean Stallato. Stallato was seen on the sideline with Davito’s Family after the game and just that one shot has made him the talk of the town. X, formerly known as twitter, had a field day after that, and he was trending for hours after the game.
Now this doesn’t mean anything about Devito’s quality of play, but for everyone, a lot of our success is dependent on who we have around us. Devito seems to have all the right people around him to be successful in this league. The joy seen from his family and his agent highlights something bigger than football, that Devito has a strong support system and a foundation that believes in him and his success. While Devito may not be the future starter for New York long term, he is most definitely one of the best stories the NFL has seen this year.
