The New York Giants have been bereft of talent at the quarterback position as Daniel Jones suffered a torn ACL and backup Tyrod Taylor is on Injured Reserve with a rib injury. With Tommy DeVito not providing much to be excited about, the G-Men have added another quarterback to the roster in Jacob Eason.
Another QB move: Giants are signing former Panthers/49ers/Seahawks/Colts QB Jacob Eason to their practice squad, per source.

This is more of a depth piece for the team and do not be surprised to see Eason as the backup in their Week 10 road game against the Dallas Cowboys. While he is on the practice squad, the New York Giants are not going to depend on Tommy DeVito to stay healthy without a backup option.
Jacob Eason has not seen much of the field since being drafted in the fourth round by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2020 NFL draft. He was signed off the practice squad last season by the Carolina Panthers. However, he is just 5-for-10 for 84 yards and two interceptions in his two-year NFL career.
However, he did well in 2019 in Washington to get drafted as he finished throwing for 3,132 yards with a 23:8 touchdown-to-interception ratio for the Huskies.
Can the New York Giants survive until Tyrod Taylor returns?
The New York Giants are in a bad spot as their postseason chances are all but sealed after a terrible 2-7 start to the season. According to Tankathon, they hold the fourth pick in the 2024 NFL draft heading into Week 10 of the season and it would be interesting as both Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are expected to be off the board by then.
The team has a soft stretch of their schedule coming up as after their road game against the Dallas Cowboys this week they are on the road against the Washington Commanders, home against the New England Patriots, have their bye week and then host the Green Bay Packers.
By the time that Packers game comes along, Taylor should be under center for this New York Giants team but the damage will already be done as the season is lost after making the NFC Divisional Round a year earlier. The injuries and ineffectiveness hurt this team and they need to hit the reset button fast.
