New York Giants rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. received more game action on Sunday afternoon after Eric Gray fumbled at the goal line and the Seattle Seahawks returned it for a 102-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the first quarter. Tracy Jr. rushed for 129 yards on 18 carries in a 29-20 win for the Giants over the Seahawks.
He also caught one pass for one yard, but maybe Tracy Jr. will be more involved in the passing game moving forward. He also got more action because running back Devin Singletary was out with an injury.
New York Giants Running Back Tyrone Tracy Jr. Speaks After the Game
After the game was over, the former Purdue Boilermakers running back spoke with AJ Ross of CBS Sports. Despite his big game, he cared more about the win than his stat line. Tracy Jr. said:
“All the stats don’t matter if we don’t get the dub.”
He was very effective for the New York Giants in this game and played a huge role in the win. This was the best that the Giants offense has looked in a while. This was a game where they could have scored 40 points. Tracy Jr. was a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from Purdue.
Running Back 1 Moving Forward
Moving forward, Tracy Jr. should be the Giants running back. He has a chance to make an impact for them for the rest of the season. Tracy Jr. needs to be getting 20-25 carries a week for the rest of the season. Devin Singletary should be the second running back and Eric Gray needs to be riding the bench.
Tracy Jr. is not the only player that general manager Joe Schoen nailed in the 2024 NFL Draft. They looked good on Sunday without rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers. Nabers was also a top pick for this team in the 2024 NFL Draft.
