The New York Giants have had an unequivocally strange season.
After starting the season with a disappointing 2-6, the Giants fanbase were already feeling fairly let down by a team that had high (ish) expectations following a 10-7 season in 2022, followed by a road win against the Minnesota Vikings in the wild card round.
Then, following an injury to $40 million quarterback (words that I physically struggled to type onto the keyboard), Daniel Jones and replacement Tyrod Taylor – the team found undrafted local QB and now Italian-American icon, Tommy DeVito, who has inexplicably now won two in a row as the Giants move to a still-bad 4-8 record.
But, weirdly, it still feels like there is an air of optimism at MetLife stadium. Optimism to reach the playoffs – no -but something about the whole DeVito situation, the two game winning streak and perhaps just incredibly low expectations set over the past decade have made this season seem actually not-all-that-bad for New York Giants.
And, to bolster that – the Giants will activate a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion, Tyrod Taylor, for IR, per Dan Solomone.

How Will This Affect The New York Giants
New York have already announced that Tommy DeVito will remain the starter for the remainder of the season. Even so, having a player like Taylor, who surprisingly to me at least, has won a Super Bowl and been to a Pro Bowl (in 2015) – will undoubtedly be beneficial to the Giants’ sidelines and as a backup in case an NYG quarterback once again succumbs to injury.
This season wise, it is not the biggest deal, as the Giants are fairly far off the playoffs, and would need to win and pray pretty hard to have even a shot at the 7 seed. But, really, the Giants front office are not thinking now – they are focused on the next 3 years down the line – despite some impressive play from standouts such as Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Tonight they host the Green Bay Packers, where they are 5.5 point underdogs in this strange Monday quasi double-header.
