The NFL Draft is only fifty days away.
After a shocking day in which both Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney did not receive tags or new contracts, Giants fans will find themselves forgetting that the next crop of Giants players will soon be selected over the course of the 2024 NFL Draft, set to take place in Detroit, Michigan, between April 25th and 27th.
With the 6th Pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Giants select…Wide Reciever
Marvin Harrison Jr. is far and away expected to be the first Wide Receiver taken off the board on the night of April 25th. His closest compatriots at the position are Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers. Nabers and Harrison did not measure at the scouting combine, but Odunze did. And Odunze ran a 4.45 40 yard dash, then shocked everyone by staying to run the three cone drill deep into the night on Saturday, long after everyone else went home. Nabers will have to wait for his LSU Pro Day to perform for NFL Scouts, but based solely on Odunze’s stellar combine outing, Odunze would be a stellar selection as part of Joe Schoen’s critical third Offseason as Giants GM.
With the 6th pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Giants select….Quarterback
Will any of the top three quarterbacks make it to the 6th pick? It is widely accepted that some order of Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye will be off the board within the first three selections. In fact, Williams may be continuing to solidify his case to be taken #1 overall with each successive day. But there is one quarterback that is sitting ripe for the taking: Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy.
Despite being the QB4 of the class, McCarthy has some genuinely tantalizing traits that may make teams seek to jump into the top 10 to pursue his talents. More on this possibility below.

With the 6th Pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Giants select…Offensive Lineman
This does not seem like a popular pick on the surface. However, Joe Schoen was selected by the Giants to cure their Offensive Line woes. The Offensive Line positions always offer a very safe pick for a team who seeks to shore up their front seven. While Andrew Thomas has developed into a fine player in the NFL (but one Schoen did not select), his fellow recent pick Evan Neal has struggled.
This time around, Joe Alt, Taliese Fuaga, and Olu Fashanu are all expected to go within the top 15 selections of the 2024 NFL Draft.
There has been a trade in the NFL Draft!
Up or down? The Giants have been reported to be “absolutely done” with Daniel Jones. J.J. McCarthy may be considered a reach at the 6th pick despite his potential being high, but there are several teams behind the Giants who may seek to move ahead in the draft order to secure his rights. The Giants themselves may be prepared to move up into the top 3 selections to secure the rights to one of the big three quarterbacks.
