The New York Giants made the huge announcement that Daniel Jones will be heading to the bench, and he will likely never start for the team again barring a crazy turn of events. Jones has been a mediocre game manager and has not performed well the entire season. With the Giants moving him to the bench they are not figuring out what they will do at the quarterback position for the rest of the season.
New York Giants Sign Veteran Quarterback

While Jones is out of the starting lineup, the Giants have a decision to make for who will be the starter moving forward, and while the fans are dying to see Tommy DeVito play for the team again, there are other options the Giants can turn to before giving the Italian the keys to the castle for the rest of the season.
DeVito is set to get the start this upcoming week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but moving forward the team still has a lot of decisions to make. The Giants also have Drew Lock on the bench who signed a one-year deal with the team and was thought to be the primary backup, but he will be backing up DeVito at the moment.
Jones was originally thought to be the third-string option for the team, but now that looks like it is not going to happen either as the Giants signed a veteran quarterback on Tuesday.

Just moments ago, the team signed Tim Boyle who played for the Miami Dolphins earlier this year. Boyle has not been productive, to say the least, but it appears that he will be above Jones in the lineup. With Boyle now joining the team, Jones will probably be inactive for every single game of the rest of the season, and then the team will have to decide to cut or trade him.
The Giants are going to lose a ton of money with Jones either way, but they certainly cannot afford for him to be the emergency quarterback because they foolishly gave him a $23 million injury guarantee. These changes seem like a business decision for the Giants who are probably preparing to get rid of Jones after the season, but the head coach Brian Daboll is trying to claim the opposite:
“We’re obviously not playing the way any of us want to play — and that’s on all of us,” Daboll told reporters. “But felt like this was a decision we needed to make here and try to spark things, change things up.”
DeVito took the Giants fandom by storm last year getting some incredible wins in his stretch of games, so it is his job to lose at the moment. After signing Boyle, Jones’ time as the team’s starter is officially over. DeVito may have played too well, as his wins last season made the team have ea later draft pick in the first round and could not have the quarterback they needed in the draft.
DeVito will have the chance to do that again, but this year’s quarterbacks are not as highly graded as last year in the draft.
