The New York Giants will face the Philadelphia Eagles on the road this weekend. The Giants are 3-13 and the Eagles are 13-3. Both teams will have nothing to play for and this game will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
As of right now, New York would have the number four pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If they were to win, they would slide even more in the 2025 NFL Draft order.
New York Giants Owner John Mara Makes Statement After Philadelphia Eagles Matchup From Last Season
A season ago, the Eagles faced the Giants in the final week of the 2023 regular season. New York won that game against Philadelphia 27-10. The New York Giants finished with a 6-11 record last season and that game also occurred when the Philadelphia Eagles were in the middle of a tailspin.
Giants owner John Mara said to Dan Duggan of The Athletic during the NFL offseason:
“If you think I didn’t want to beat Philadelphia the last game of the season after the history we’ve had against them, you’re crazy. There was no regret about that at all. I never want to feel that way where you are hoping to lose a game. That’s the wrong message to send to your locker room. The players feel that, and I don’t know how they respect you after that.”
There are a lot of Giants fans who wanted the team to lose for a better pick then. There are a lot of New York fans who also want to lose to Philadelphia on Sunday to ensure they get at least a Top 4 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Is Mara that shortsighted to realize the reason his team keeps losing to the Eagles is mainly due to the fact he hasn’t had a top-10 QB in a decade? And here they are with a chance to maybe rectify that issue, and he wants to do the definition of insanity instead. Sell the team

A lot of New York Giants fans want John Mara to sell the team. The fanbase is right that he would rather win one meaningless game in the short-term rather than focus on the picture in the long-term. The Philadelphia Eagles will be resting Saquon Barkley and other key starters on Sunday, but the Giants fanbase wants either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward for the long haul at quarterback next year and not Drew Lock starting also.
