The New York Giants have quarterback Daniel Jones under contract for the next few years, but they can opt out of the contract after next season. With the Giants bringing in Drew Lock and potentially drafting a quarterback with the sixth overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, New York could then maybe move off of Daniel Jones’s contract.
One of those ways is a trade and General Manager Joe Schoen would have to find another team to trade him to. He has already said this offseason that they believe Jones will be the Week 1 starter for the Giants in 2024, but a lot of fans are not buying it at all. Which NFL teams would even try to trade for Daniel Jones if it ever came down to that?
The Denver Broncos Could Be a Team That Trades For New York Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones
Denver will be picking 12th in the 2024 NFL Draft. Head coach Sean Payton wants to try and trade up, but it may be hard for a quarterback. They released Russell Wilson and Jarrett Stidham is not the answer for the Broncos.
If the Broncos can’t move up and if Bo Nix is also off the board by number 12, they may have to trade for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones to have something. Jones has been a starter in this league and maybe Payton could work with him.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots own the third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. There is a chance that either New England passes up on a quarterback or trades down and accumulates more picks for the future. With the Patriots needing a quarterback after trading Mac Jones, maybe they would try Daniel Jones if they don’t like any of the quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
It’s a possibility that the New York Giants may move up from the sixth pick to the third pick with the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft anyway to draft a quarterback. The New England Patriots have a lot of holes on their roster, but that would be interesting if they traded away one mediocre quarterback just to take another one.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers have Andy Dalton behind Bryce Young and he struggled last season. Carolina needs to bring in someone to compete with him because what if Young doesn’t work out for Carolina? Yes, he had no help last season with the lack of weapons and offensive line, but he needs to produce because of how well quarterback CJ Stroud played for the Houston Texans.
Daniel Jones would be a better option than Dalton because Jones is younger than Dalton at this point in his NFL career. The market won’t be big for Jones, but these are a few teams to watch for if the New York Giants ever trade him.
