New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll knows that his 6-11 record was not good enough a season ago for the franchise. They made it to the playoffs in his first season with the franchise at 9-7-1. The Giants hope to show massive improvement in year three of this regime.
It is just voluntary workouts for now in the offseason but Daboll was pleased about the turnout on Day 1 on Monday. He said at the team meeting:
“Good to have ya’ll back. Appreciate you being here. I know it’s a voluntary camp. But this says a lot about you much like it did at the end of the season last year when we competed our a*** off. Wasn’t how we wanted to start, So we’re going to get off to a fast start right here, ok? For you new players, There’s really two rules we have here: One, is to be a pro and that’s how we operate here within our orginization. And the start of it, is today.”
The New York Giants roster for the 2024 season is not set by any means. They still have to decide a lot of things between now and next season. One of the things that they have to decide is who will be the starting quarterback for the 2024 season.
Will it be Daniel Jones or will it be Drew Lock or a new rookie quarterback? A lot of those questions will be answered after the NFL Draft next weekend. The Giants also have other needs to fix this roster and general manager Joe Schoen will do what feels best for this football team.
New York Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll Knows How Important These Offseason Workouts Are
It is important for the Giants to have good offseason workouts before training camp begins in July. Head coach Brian Daboll wants his football team to be in a good spot when this time comes. They want to be ahead of where they were last season by the time that part of training camp rolls around.
One of the new players to watch for this season is outside linebacker Brian Burns. The Giants will look to be a force on the defensive side of the football. Dexter Lawrence and Kayvon Thibodeaux will also be the core of the New York Giants defense along with Brian Burns. Deonte Banks, Micah McFadden, and Bobby Okekere also had very good seasons last year for New York.
The Giants were also struggling on offense last season and will look to be better this season, Saquon Barkley is no longer around and they will look to find a reliable running back by committee led by Devin Singletary. New York will have more answers to the offseason after the NFL Draft concludes.
