The New Orleans Saints are in a pivotal game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The good news is that they started this game with a 17-0 lead. However, New Orleans may have lost their star running back.
Alvin Kamara Leaves Game
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara was seen leaving the game and heading to the locker room. There is speculation that Kamara may have suffered an injury during the game against Tampa Bay. Kamara did not start the second half on the sidelines or in the game. Later on, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed that Kamara was out for the game due to an ankle injury.
He had 10 rushes for 45 yards in the first half. Kamara had 649 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in 12 prior games this season.
New Orleans Saints Moving Forward
What does this mean for the New Orleans Saints? Potential long-term implications for the 2023 NFL season. Right now, the Saints have a 7-8 record and are fighting for their playoff lives.
Luckily, New Orleans built a 17-0 lead before this injury. However, they will likely have to lean on RB Jamaal Williams to carry the load now. Williams has just 222 rushing yards in 11 games this season. Now, he will likely have to step up.
