New Orleans Saints star cornerback, Marshon Lattimore, having suffered a high ankle sprain in the Week 10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, has now received some unfortunate news going in their Week 12 divisional bout at the Atlanta Falcons, per Tom Pelissero.
The #Saints are placing CB Marshon Lattimore on injured reserve and elevating DE Jason Pierre-Paul for Sunday’s game vs. the #Falcons.

Having former All-Pro, Jason Pierre-Paul (JPP), having been signed earlier this season, now officially join their ranks is a small consolation for the 5-5 team atop the NFC South.
How Does This Impact The New Orleans Saints Defence?
This New Orleans Saints defence has been traditionally strong, with questionable head coach – but excellent defensive mind – Dennis Allen, keeping the unit the strength of the team. The Saints rank 9th in both yards allowed and points allowed per game, and one of the reasons for this is the continually strong play of the secondary, headlined by former first round draft pick, Marshon Lattimore.
Lattimore consistently grades out as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL, having gone to the Pro Bowl 4 times in 2017, and 2019-2021. Yet, he is not alone in the New Orleans Saints’ secondary, the team also boasts impressive corners Alontae Taylor and Paulson Adebo alongside Pro-Bowl and All-Pro safeties Tyron Matthieu and Marcus Maye.
Against a somewhat stagnant, Desmond Ridder-lead passing offence, having no Lattimore will not necessarily cost the Saints too much. However, due to the prolonged nature of this layoff, this could certainly be detrimental in future games against more lethal passers – such as the Jared Goff lead Detroit Lions in Week 13.
