The New England Patriots have made it clear that they wish to make some huge upgrades through the NFL Draft. Although, there is some speculation on how they may go about making these upgrades. Whether it is taking generational receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., or securing the future face of the franchise at the quarterback position, many people have different opinions. It was reported this morning by Albert Breer, that the Patriots organization will have a huge presence at the pro days of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels. This almost gives away the decision that New England will most likely be selecting a quarterback at third overall. The question still remains, which quarterback does New England see leading their team to the promise land?

The Patriots met with all the top quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine, but which one impressed them the most? It is clear that the Chicago Bears will most likely be selecting Caleb Williams with the first overall pick, and the Washington Commanders will also most likely be selecting quarterback at second overall. This leaves the Patriots with some interesting questions. Are Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye equal as prospects in the eyes of New England? Would they rather one of them falls to pick three? The Foxborough Faithful can’t know for certain what is going on behind closed doors at Patriot Place this spring, but they can hope for a better and brighter future. Clearly the decision makers at Gillette Stadium also have their sights set on a brighter future by taking a good look at all these top playmakers.
There is no such thing as a perfect Draft prospect, which is evident with some of these quarterbacks. Each of them have their weaknesses and will need some time to develop. Depending on how the Patriots view some of these weaknesses, they may decide to sit whichever quarterback they take, and let him develop behind Jacoby Brissett. This would be a smart decision instead of just throwing the rookie into the fire of the NFL. Many prospects have had short careers as starters, because they didn’t have enough time to develop. With New England’s presence at these pro days, they are clearly very interested in how each of these players perform. Now all the NFL world can do is wait to see which one of these players the Patriots want for their future.
Could the Patriots make their Draft day decision at these pro days?
If the Patriots are absolutely blown away by one of these quarterbacks, could they make their decision over a month away from Draft night? Usually by this time of the Draft process, teams have watched plenty of film on prospects, and even met with some of them at the Combine. So if the Patriots have already done most of their work on somebody like Jayden Daniels, and he crushes his pro day, they may already have their decision made. Then it would just be a matter of what the Washington Commanders do with the second overall pick. If the Patriots hope to be a relevant team again, they will do whatever needs to be done to select the quarterback they believe can bring them Super Bowl number seven.
