The New England Patriots offense has been anemic this season and they now look to be down one of their few weapons. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson went down with an ankle injury early in Sunday’s game and it seems he is going to miss a couple of weeks.
Tests showed that Patriots’ RB Rhamondre Stevenson suffered a high ankle sprain and he now is expected to miss, in the words of a source, “a few weeks.”

New England Patriots Rhamondre Stevenson Injury Status
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it is a high ankle sprain for Stevenson. He is now expected to miss “a few weeks.” This is good and bad for the Patriots. Missing one of your best players isn’t a good thing. However, the Patriots may not be in a position where they want to win. They currently own the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This team needs a quarterback badly and could be in line to draft Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels. The hope is that Stevenson can make a full recovery and be ready for 2024.
The Hip Drop Tackle
Stevenson was injured on a controversial hip drop tackle. This play has injured a couple of other notable players like Mark Andrews and Tony Pollard. A couple of weeks ago, Peter King wrote that the NFL is looking to ban the tackle. This has caused much debate as defensive players are claiming that the league is taking away their ability to stop offensive players. However, the NFL does not like seeing starters injured long-term because of the play.
The New England Patriots are already looking towards 2024. However, there is some hope. With this defense, if the team can get a little bit of offense, they should be able to bounce back quickly.
