New England Patriots Have Found Their Quarterback of The Future – Drake Maye

The New England Patriots were demolished in their game on Sunday by one of the best teams in the league, the Houston Texans. There is however a lot to be encouraged about moving forward with their rookie quarterback Drake Maye. Maye looked like a rookie at times with many mistakes, but he also proved he is the real deal.

Drake Maye Is the Future in New England

In just his first start as a 22-year-old, Maye showed that he is the future of New England and their first legit quarterback since Tom Brady’s departure. Maye showed he has a gorgeous deep ball, and can make most throws all over the field. Additionally, he showed his incredible athleticism on the run and that he can lead a team in the huddle.

While the Patriots have an easy schedule for their next 7 games, they are almost certainly not going to make the postseason. While the team may not be able to make a playoff push this year, this bodes well for the team moving forward, as once you have the quarterback, you can figure everything else out.

Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne on Drake Maye: “He’s like a natural leader. His aura — he has aura. That’s important in football. Some people have aura, some people don’t. He’s kind of one of those. He doesn’t have to try, he’s that guy.” pic.twitter.com/lMSMUD2sad

There is a new buzz in New England for their future that they have not had since they lost the greatest player of all time. Maye is the real deal, and this has been known since before he was drafted. He has all the physical and mental abilities required to lead a team in the NFL. None of this does not mean that he will become one of the best in the league, but he clearly looks like a franchise quarterback.

It Should be noted that Maye has one of the worst supporting casts on offense and defense, specifically at the offensive line. If this team can protect Maye he can have a long career in the league.

New England Patriots Need To Protect Drake Maye

Maye was being protected by the worst o-line in the NFL, and he was taking snaps from a center who had just joined the team one week prior. He was able to perform at a higher level than Josh Allen did one week ago against this Houston defense.

If the Patriots can protect Maye, the sky is the limit for what he can do. He can make all the throws possible to every spot on the field, including an incredibly impressive deep ball. While the team is not looking great for this year, they have got the most important position locked in with their new quarterback.

The next 8 games will be a crucial stretch for Maye and the team to get confidence and more importantly, to get some wins. They have an easy schedule for the next two months and they can pull out a lot of wins to build on for next year.
