Things took a turn for the worse on Sunday for the New England Patriots amid their blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys came firing out the gates in this one and they never looked back as they eventually secured a convincing 38-3 win against a hapless New England side.

More bad news came for the Patriots late in the game as star defensive end Matthew Judon had to exit the contest with a concerning injury in the fourth quarter.

New England was hoping for an improbable comeback early in the fourth quarter with the Cowboys holding on to a 31-3 lead. Disaster struck when Dallas left tackle Chuma Edoga blocked Judon during the Cowboys’ second-and-11. Judon attempted to tackle Dallas running back Deuce Vaughn on the play, but the Patriots star ended up getting hurt on his botched effort.

Judon exited the game and he was initially declared as doubtful to return. It didn’t sound like a significant injury at first, with some fans assuming that the Patriots had merely decided to keep their star pass rusher out due to the nature of the blowout. As it turns out, however, the four-time Pro Bowler’s injury may have been more significant than initially anticipated.

After the game, league insider Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network provided an update on Judon’s injury. It isn’t good news at all for New England fans:

“#Patriots pass-rusher Matthew Judon is being evaluated for a biceps tendon injury, source says. He’s getting an MRI to determine the severity. Either way, he’s expected to miss some time,” Rapoport wrote in his tweet.

Neither Rapoport nor the Patriots have provided a timetable for Judon’s injury. However, the above report has already indicated that the 31-year-old is now expected to be sidelined because of this knock, which means that he could be forced to miss multiple games for New England.

More details should be provided once the test results come in, but at this point, things are looking bleak for Judon and the Pats.
