Ezekiel Elliott spent the offseason looking for a new team and ended up with the New England Patriots. After the Dallas Cowboys cut the former top-five pick for cap relief and diminishing returns, Elliott ended up with New England. The two teams will play in week 4 at AT&T Stadium and Elliott is excited for the opportunity to play against his former team.
New England Patriots Ezekiel Elliott Excited About Return To Dallas
Elliott isn’t happy with how his tenure with the Cowboys ended. However, that is business in the NFL. Players with big contracts who stop producing at high levels often get cut for cap relief. That is giving him an edge for the week 4 clash with his old team.
“It’s going to be fun. I’m excited to go back to Dallas, a place where I have so much history, my home in the offseason. It will be cool to get back in AT&T [Stadium].”
Elliott earned two All-Pro nods with the Cowboys and was definitely a fan favorite during his time with Dallas. I would assume that he will receive a warm welcome on Sunday.
Can Dallas Recover From The Week 3 Embarrassment?
New England may be catching Dallas at a bad time. The Cowboys were embarrassed by the Cardinals and they will most likely want to show that it was a fluke and not a sign of this team not being up to snuff. New England has struggled to get off the ground on offense. Mac Jones continues to struggle even under new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien. The New England defense should keep them in the game but it may be hard to outscore Dallas.
I’m sure that Ezekiel Elliott will be ready to show out against his old team. The New England Patriots better hope for some kind of offensive spark or it could be a long day.
