The Auburn Tigers finished with a 5-7 overall record in 2024, and they had a 2-6 record in SEC Conference play. Auburn was going through growing pains in 2024.

They lost a lot of close games in 2024, and it feels like Auburn can win those games in 2025. This will be the third season that Hugh Freeze is the head coach of this football program. He has an 11-14 overall record with the program, and it will be interesting see what happens in 2025. A lot of Tigers fans wanted Freeze to be fired after the season, but they decided to hang onto him.
CBS Sports Thinks the Auburn Tigers Could Finish 9-3 In 2025 and Potentially Save Hugh Freeze’s Job

If Auburn finishes with a 5-7 record once again in 2025, then there is a chance that the Tigers football program will be replacing Freeze after the season. Brad Crawford of CBS Sports listed Auburn going 9-3 in 2025 will be the best-case scenario for them.
The Tigers wouldn’t make the playoffs, but it would have Auburn heading in the right direction under Freeze, and it would allow them to keep him around for another season. Crawford said about Auburn potentially going 9-3 in 2025,
“There is going to be a logjam of SEC teams that are good, but not elite this fall. Auburn might be part of that group. What matters is who the Tigers beat and where their strength of schedule ranks at season’s end. Remember — this is the most optimistic observation possible for the Tigers. If Hugh Freeze is anywhere near the payoff conversation, he’ll pass the necessary tests from the natives needed for job security.”
Auburn being 7-5 or 8-4 would save Freeze for another season. What the Tigers can not afford in 2025 is for them to have another .500 regular season. Auburn is a very young football team, but they feel ready to turn the corner in the conference.
There is a world with the way the schedule is for the Tigers, they could start the season with a 5-0 record before they host the Georgia Bulldogs on October 11. Auburn would no question be underdogs, but it would be a measuring stick game for them. Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide are the only two games that will be hard for them to win.
Outside of that, they also may not win the Missouri Tigers game, but the rest of the schedule could be in their favor. A 9-3 record could happen, but a 7-5 or 8-4 season for Auburn could be very realistic and it would save Freeze from being fired, before becoming a potential contender in the 2026 season.
