Myles Garrett, defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, recently shook the world by announcing his trade request from the team. However, his trade is not the only one which shocked sports fans this week. The Los Angeles Lakers traded Anthony Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in return for Luka Doncic, which simply surprised everyone, including the players themselves.
Most recently, Garrett was interviewed on the Rich Eisen show, where he was quizzed about his decision in requesting a trade from the team. Garrett also spoke about what he thought about the Doncic-Davis trade in the NBA. The defensive end went further to draw an NFL comparison to the shocking trade.
“It’d be like a Chris Jones for a Josh Allen. And, you know, that’s as similar as a comparison as I can make it and, you know, that’s, even then, it’s not a, you know, a one to one, but it was just, it was just shocking.” Myles Garrett said on the Rich Eisen Show.

Chris Jones is currently a defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, while Josh Allen is the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. In the 2024 NFL season, Jones managed 19 solo tackles with five sacks, while QB Allen threw for 3.731 yards, scoring 28 touchdowns along with six interceptions.
Myles Garrett also apparently spoke to none other than LeBron James about the trade and mentioned that the Lakers’ star was very shocked at the team trading away Davis for Doncic. The Lakers are definitely going to miss Davis who was one of their best guards and contributed immensely to their defense.

Myles Garrett is definitely not the only athlete who has famously left or wanted to leave a Cleveland-based team. LeBron James, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, made waves when he announced his decision to leave his then-team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Garrett, who recently requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, apparently sought advice from LeBron James, as to what his thought process was, and how he handled the transition away from Cleveland.
Garrett clearly took his time to make his decision in wanting to leave the team, and also spoke to his family regarding the same. The defensive end also mentioned that while he definitely loved Cleveland, he never did manage to win a championship with the team, and that was his main goal the entire time.
