Oklahoma Offensive Coordinator Jeff Lebby Agrees to Become Mississippi State’s Next Head Coach
Mississippi State and Oklahoma Offensive Coordinator Jeff Lebby have agreed to terms for him to become the next Head Coach for the Bulldogs. State fired former head coach Zach Arnett two weeks ago and moved quickly towards Lebby. Of note, QB Will Rogers announced plans to enter the transfer portal this week. The hiring of Lebby could potentially sway Rogers, the SEC career leader in passing yards, to stay in Starkville.
Who is New Mississippi State HC Jeff Lebby?
Lebby began his career as a student assistant at Oklahoma. After his graduation, Lebby became an offensive assistant at Baylor, where he was listed as a coach who took no action in a sexual assault scandal. Lebby maintained support for fired Head Coach Art Briles after the fact.
In 2017, Lebby was hired at Central Florida as their QB Coach and eventually became the Offensive Coordinator. Lebby spent two seasons at Ole Miss as Lane Kiffin’s Offensive Coordinator before spending the last two seasons at Oklahoma as Brent Venables Offensive Coordinator.
Known as an offensive mastermind, Lebby has had great success at every stop, so the Bulldogs are getting a very hot commodity in the up-and-coming coach.
