The Minnesota Vikings are off to a less than stellar start. The Vikings got their first win of the season in Week Four vs. the Carolina Panthers. Both teams went into that game 0-3 trying to avoid a dismal 0-4 start. The Vikings took over in the third quarter via a 51-yard fumbled recovery for a score and a 30-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson. Those scores would made it 21-13, the Panthers weren’t able to put up another point all afternoon.
Before (and even after) the Vikings win in Week Four there have been rumors of a Kirk Cousins trade. If the team doesn’t appear to be competitive by the NFL Trade Deadline, would the Vikings consider looking to the future and trading Cousins for (likely) significant draft capital? The Vikings answered that.
At This Point The Minnesota Vikings Have Absolutely No Intentions On Trading Kirk Cousins
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the Vikings will not trade quarterback Kirk Cousins before the October 31 deadline. The news came on the same day the team won their first game of the year:
“The [New York] Jets have not called the Vikings about Cousins,” Russini wrote on Sunday, October 1. “And despite the winless Vikings entering Week 4 with their second consecutive game against a winless opponent, two team sources said the Vikings are not punting on the season and have no plans to trade Cousins, who would have to waive his no-trade clause to be moved.”
In four games this season for Minnesota, he has thrown for 1,214 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions. Kirk Cousins has rarely been the reason why the Vikings are 1-3. They are not getting the same luck as they did a season ago in one-possession games when they won the division with a 13-4 record. Today they moved to 1-3 on the season in one possession games as well.
