Are the Minnesota Vikings angling to move up in the 2024 NFL Draft?
According to ESPN’s latest 2024 NFL Draft predictions, the Minnesota Vikings will be sending quite the haul of draft capital to the New England Patriots in order to secure their potential quarterback of the future.
“This is pretty straightforward — three first-round picks for your quarterback of the future, whoever that is at No. 3. The Patriots, meanwhile, would get serious draft capital to spark their rebuild. And they could still maneuver in Round 1 this year to find a QB (if they like one outside the top three) or plan to control the draft next year and maybe land the best one in that 2025 class.”
Earlier this month, the Vikings sent picks 42 and 188 as well as their 2025 second-round pick to the Houston Texans for the 23rd overall selection in next month’s draft, adding fuel to the fire to the rumors of the club adding top picks in order to move up in this year’s draft.
Minnesota Vikings’ 2023 Season Plagued by Injuries
Prior to rupturing his Achilles during the Minnesota Vikings’ week eight win over the Green Bay Packers, Kirk Cousins was quietly in the MVP conversation. Cousins threw for 2,331 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns and just five interceptions in less than eight full games.
Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons when the new NFL league year officially began, earlier this month. With plenty of offensive talent to work with in the form of Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, Jordan Addison, and the newly-signed Aaron Jones, the Vikings could very well be a quarterback away from being in the mix in the NFC playoff picture.
