The Minnesota Vikings have had an impressive start to the season, defeating the New York Giants by three scores in Week 1 and upsetting the NFC Champions, the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. The Vikings hope to keep their momentum going when they host the 2-0 Houston Texans. The Vikings are two-point underdogs, and the over/under is 46.
Their pass rush has been sensational through two games, ranking 1st in hurries with 15, 4th in knockdowns with ten, 1st in pressures with 36, and 2nd in sacks with 11, per Pro Football Reference. Last week, the Vikings had six sacks against the 49ers.
Unfortunately, the Vikings will not have their young EDGE rusher for their Week 3 matchup.
The Minnesota Vikings rookie suffered a knee injury in Week 2
Dallas Turner exited their final defensive drive of the game with an apparent knee injury. Turner went into the blue medical tent and came out of the tent. He remained on the sidelines for the rest of the game and recorded two tackles. After the game, Kevin O’Connell told reporters that Turner’s injury wasn’t considered long-term.
Kevin O’Connell said Justin Jefferson had a quad contusion, after a leg-to-leg collision with Fred Warner. He’s sore, O’Connell said, but should be day-to-day.

He will not play
Dallas Turner did not participate in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s practice. Turner told the media on Thursday that he won’t play but will support the team. The Vikings have officially ruled him out, and he hopes to play against the Green Bay Packers next week.

Who’s role will increase?
Pat Jones II’s role will increase with Dallas Turner not playing. Jones, their backup EDGE rusher, has had an impressive start to the season with nine tackles, four TFLs, four hits, and four sacks. Jihad Ward’s role should also increase. Don’t forget about starters Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, who will handle the bulk of the workload.
