Miami Dolphins fans remembered former linebacker Mike Kolen after reports surfaced that he died Wednesday. Kolen, nicknamed “Captain Crunch,” played on one of the best defenses of all time.
Mike Kolen died at 76
“Kolen, a linebacker who started all three Super Bowls for the Miami Dolphins, was 76 years old.
The former Miami Dolphins linebacker was on the team that recorded the National Football League’s only perfect season and put together a long, impressive career with the NFL franchise.
Kolen played eight seasons for the Dolphins after being selected by Miami in the 12th round of the 1970 NFL Draft. In 1972 and 1973, the Dolphins won back-to-back Super Bowls thanks to Kolen being part of Miami’s “No Name Defense.”
Kolen played for Auburn and was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1985.

So sorry to hear this news. On the field he was a great player and a hero to many. Off the field he was truly a nice guy. Years ago he came in to the store where I worked and was so kind to us.
