The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have no intention of offering star receiver Mike Evans a contract extension at this point in time. Last season, Evans had 77 receptions for 1,124 yards and six touchdowns, and requested a contract from the team. He set a deadline for a new contract and told the Bucs that if they couldn’t get it done, he would walk next year. Evans is in the final year of his five-year $82.5 contract that he signed in 2018. Evans has spent all nine years as a pro in Tampa Bay and is a four-time Pro Bowler.

The deadline Evans gave them will pass tomorrow, if they don't reach a deal, it appears this is his last season with the team.

Mike Evans Resume
Mike Evans is 30 years old and was drafted 7th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Evans has eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in nine straight seasons. In his career, he has collected 683 receptions, 10,425 receiving yards, and 81 touchdowns. He has played in at least 13 games every season and helped the Bucs win the 2021 Super Bowl.

Blown-off by the Buccaneers
Evans has been an absolute stud for this team, and their unwillingness to give Evans job security is appalling. There are several teams that could use Evans, including Kansas City, Buffalo, Detroit, and Cleveland, to name a few.

Mike Evans has every right to be upset and deserves better. After everything he has done for Tampa, they won’t even consider resigning him. I see the Bucs looking to trade Evans before the deadline and get some sort of draft capital for him. If he makes the whole season in Tampa Bay, it will be interesting to see which teams show interest, and what kind of money he would be worth. Either way, it appears Evans is playing his last season as a Buccaneer.
